During SmartNIC, we provided demos of MVAPICH2-DPU MPI library, which enables applications to offload non-blocking MPI collective operations to DPUs and achieve a high degree of computation and communication overlap with almost no code restructuring. Offloading dense communication operations like Alltoall can provide significant benefits to the scientific applications running on HPC centers and Cloud environments. X-ScaleSolutions has demonstrated that MVAPICH2-DPU is able to boost the performance of the P3DFFT application by up to 22%.
